What is a mandate (authority)?
A SEPA Direct Debit mandate is the document in which the debtor authorises the creditor to collect automatically from their account. With this authority the creditor can start recurring/single collections.
How do I use this tool?
- Enter the parties: Creditor name and Creditor ID, debtor name and IBAN.
- Choose scheme and type: Core (including consumers) or B2B (businesses only); recurrent or one-off.
- Generate: The tool validates the Creditor ID and IBAN, suggests a UMR (Unique Mandate Reference) and produces a ready-to-sign draft text. Get it with "Copy text".
Difference between Core and B2B
- Core: The debtor has an 8-week refund right for an authorised collection.
- B2B: Businesses only; there is no refund right for an authorised collection, and the debtor's bank confirms the mandate.
This tool produces a structural draft; the applicable regulation and the creditor's bank terms govern legal validity and mandatory wording. The uniqueness of the UMR is the creditor's responsibility. Everything runs in your browser.
