The SEPA geographical scope covers 41 countries (the Western Balkans and Moldova were added in 2025). Turkey is not included in this number; it is a candidate country that submitted its letter of intent on 2 July 2026 and whose accession process is being tracked, shown faded/marked in the list below. According to the European Payments Council's (EPC) current geographical-scope document, the SEPA schemes cover 41 countries: 27 EU members, 3 EEA countries outside the EU (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and 11 countries outside the EEA (Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, Vatican City, the United Kingdom, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Moldova). Note: the EPC's headline country count and its detailed country/territory–IBAN-code table are not the same count; Gibraltar (with its own GI IBAN code) and some linked territories are shown separately in the detailed table and are not added again to this number. Geographical coverage does not mean that all banks in that country are operational.
