Updated:
SDD Core (SEPA Direct Debit Core) is the direct debit scheme that allows a creditor (for example a subscription provider) to collect euro from a debtor’s account based on an authorisation (mandate) the debtor has given in advance. It is aimed at consumer customers.
How does it work?
- The debtor gives the creditor a mandate (a collection authorisation).
- The creditor sends a collection instruction based on this authorisation.
- The amount is debited from the debtor’s account on the specified date.
Notable rights
- Refund right: For an authorised collection, the debtor can generally request a refund within a certain period.
- Pre-notification: The creditor informs the debtor before the collection.
The version designed for business is the SDD B2B scheme.
Refund periods and conditions can vary by country and bank; verify with your bank.
