camt.054 — Debit/Credit Notification

camt.054 (BankToCustomerDebitCreditNotification) is the ISO 20022 message that gives real-time notification of individual entries going into or out of the account. It is particularly used to resolve the individual items of bulk (batch) payments one by one.

What is it for?

• Instant notification of incoming payments (credit)
• Notification of outgoing payments (debit)
• Splitting the sub-items of a bulk collection

Relationship with camt.053

While camt.053 provides the statement for the whole day, camt.054 focuses on the notification of specific entries. Together they speed up reconciliation.

The scope of the notification (credit only, debit only, or both) depends on the bank’s configuration.
